You might be thinking, “An article about football? Isn’t this a diamond company?” Why, yes, we are! And we’re a company that loves our employees. And that includes our employees who love football.
Meet Jack! Jack is one of EMD’s sales reps who loves two things: diamonds and football. So when presented with the opportunity to combine these two loves together, he jumped at the chance - and even brought many of you along with him. Take a look at Jack’s journey:
My first fantasy football experience was about 7 years ago. I was in college at Ohio University and was a part of a fraternity that I loved being a part of. There was already an established fantasy football league that was full, so I took it upon myself to become a commissioner of a new league. And I’ve been hooked on fantasy football since then.
Seven years later, everyone in my league has graduated, working at their own jobs and raising their own family. But one thing hasn’t changed - and that’s the league and how much we love fantasy football. Knowing how fantasy football can bring people together, I wanted to find a way to have fun with my clients.
This year I participated in 4 different fantasy leagues, and I was a commissioner for 2 of them. One league was with the fraternity league from 7 years ago, and the other one was a jeweler league called ‘From Bench to the Gridiron League’. I really wanted to do something different with my clients this year, so I reached out to a lot of people from all around the country and was blessed to have a full league of 12 diverse members. It was awesome to see the response from members of the league when I would call and follow up with them. From smack talk to giving advice, I enjoyed all of the interactions I’ve had with them.
And after a year of fun-filled interactions, I’m happy to announce the winner of our ‘From Bench to the Gridiron League’ is Andrew, Steven and Greg from King’s Jewelry in Alexandria, VA (www.kingsjewelry.net).
Besides being champions, they’re also great people and always a pleasure to work with. So how did Andrew and Greg win this year’s league? For one, they drafted very well, especially in the later rounds, where they were able to draft Lamar Jackson, Mark Andrews and the Patriots defense in back-to-back picks from the 11th round to the 13th round. With the #1 quarterback, #1 defense, and a top 5 tight end, it’s no wonder that the guys from King’s Jewelry did so well this year. Not only did they draft well in the later rounds, but they also drafted well in the early rounds: Deandre Hopkins in the first round, and Aaron Jones in the third round. The two players produced a top 5 in their respected positions this year and the risk to draft them has definitely paid off.
In conclusion, I want to congratulate Andrew and Greg for putting a great team together this year, and I look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come. Hit me up if you’re interested in joining us next year! Let’s continue to bring our passion for diamonds and football together for lots of fun!
