How to Follow a #Hashtag
Following specific hashtags is quite simple. First, search for a hashtag you would like to follow in the Search tab. Click the ‘Follow’ button underneath the hashtag and you will begin seeing content from your newly followed hashtag show up in your feed.
If you want to unfollow a hashtag you have previously followed, simply go back to the hashtag’s gallery and tap the ‘Follow’ button again. You can then choose to ‘Unfollow’ the hashtag and it will no longer show in your newsfeed.
With the addition of hashtagged content showing up in your feed, you will be able to expand your organic reach. The key is to give IG’s algorithm a “heads up” on what content you want to see more of from the hashtag. You can do this by simply liking or comments on posts you want to see more of, and Instagram will automatically pick up on your preference.
It works for posts you don’t want to see as well. If a post from the hashtag you’ve followed shows up in your feed and you don’t want to see more of them, just tap on the three-dot icon on the top right-hand corner of that post and hide it by choosing, “Don’t Show for This Hashtag”.
