5 Tips to Create Eye-catching Jewelry Product Descriptions for Social Media Posts

May 16, 2019Dana E. , Diamond Specialist & Communications Manager Overview of the Fancy Color Diamond Market

So many times we focus solely on jewelry photos and forget to dedicate time on product descriptions. While it’s true that photos are extremely important, don’t underestimate the power of a great description as well. Here are a few tips to help you write fantastic product descriptions.

Alluring Titles
The first thing that will pop out to potential customers is the product title. How you name your piece is extremely important and you want people to be immediately drawn to the item. Try pointing out a unique feature to highlight or an interesting shape. Including the type of metal is also a great way to highlight your piece.

Highlight the Unique Features
Your product description should include details on how your piece stands out from other pieces. Highlight it’s one-of-a-kind features. Is it handmade? Does it have a unique story behind it? Is there a unique stone inside the piece? What is the cut of the gem? These are all factors to include in the product description.

Details, Details, Details
Along with the unique features, specific details are good to add. How many carats? What is the clarity? Where did it come from? All these details are important in gaining the trust of your customers and potential customers. Remember, it’s all in the details.

Word Choice
The wording is so important when it comes to writing your product description. Choose your words wisely and avoid cliche descriptions. Avoid using the same terms over and over again in your descriptions and use a thesaurus if you’re having difficulty coming up with new adjectives to use. The words, ‘beautiful’ and ‘stunning’ are popular descriptive words, so try coming up with new and alluring ways to describe your jewelry.

Length of Description
The length of your product description is another important factor to consider. Descriptions that are too long will bore your users and you’re bound to lose them. Stick to 3 or 4 short sentences, focusing on what’s most important. And don’t repeat any words within the description.

Just remember that your audience is seeing hundreds of product descriptions, daily, so make sure yours is the one that catches their eyes!
